ANZAC Day

Today we had Declan C and Ryan J speak to us.

Declan C shared photos and his knowledge when he travelled to Ypres (Belgium), Arras (France), Vimy Ridge (France) and Dunkerque (France). His photos showed bunkers, tunnels, bomb holes, sniper holes, graveyards, a Canadian monument and more. Room 1 was fascinated when Declan explained how close enemy trenches were, so close that the soldiers could shout to each other!

Ryan J was interested in a discussion that Austin began about the soldier Desmond Doss. Ryan went home and read about him on the internet. He told us that Desmond Doss was an American soldier in World War 2 who was a conscientious objector so he didn't carry a gun. He was awarded America's highest award for his bravery and courage under fire. Well done Ryan J.
