Yum scrum - ANZAC Biscuits

Room 1 read a story about soldiers from New Zealand receiving biscuits in food parcels sent to them from home while they were serving overseas.

The food in the parcels had to be long-lasting as it took two months to arrive on ships that didn't have refrigerators. ANZAC biscuits do not contain egg which would've gone off and were also hard to find in wartime. The biscuits were first called "soldiers' biscuits", but after Gallipoli, they were renamed ANZAC biscuits.

Our biscuits we baked today were delicious! We made six batches. Everyone ate so many that we only have one to take home, although that may not last until 3.00 pm!
