Metre Squared Project

We have completed our survey of the plants and animals living at the Farm Cove 'beach', Tamaki Estuary just down from Fordyce Avenue. The University of Otago is encouraging everyone to participate in the long term monitoring of their own environment.
Room 1 had a fabulous time, discovering mud crabs, sand shrimps, rock oysters, mud flat whelks, sea snails, worm trails, cockles, large horn snails, water clams and northern tuatua. It was disappointing to see litter. It was all collected, put in a black rubbish bag and bought back to school.
